Plant Operations (Construction) at NVQ 2

The Vocational Qualification (VQ) in Plant Operations (Construction) at  level 2 allows candidates to demonstrate competence in job-related skills in their area of work and expertise.

This qualification covers areas such as general workplace health, safety and welfare; conforming to productive work practices; and preparing and operating plant and equipment.

This qualification has been designed by the ConstructionSkills Sector Skills Council to ensure relevance to the sector.

VQs are based on National Occupational Standards. The Awarding body works in partnership with other organisations to ensure that National Occupational Standards (NOS) are relevant to the current and future needs of industries

Plant or Machinery Operational Performance (Construction Plant or Machines)
Plant or Machinery Operational Performance (Formation Plant or Machines)
Plant or Machinery Operational Performance (Receiving Plant or Machines)
Plant or Machinery Operational Performance (Transporting Plant or Machines)
Plant or Machinery Operational Performance (Plant or Machines used as Work Platforms)
Plant or Machinery Operational Performance (Laying or Distributing Plant or Machines)
Plant or Machinery Operational Performance (Compacting Plant or Machines)
Plant or Machinery Operational Performance (Processing Plant or Machines)
Plant or Machinery Operational Performance (Road Rail Plant)
Plant or Machinery Operational Performance (Attachments)
Plant or Machinery Operational Performance (In-shore Marine Plant)

The qualification is designed to meet the following objectives:

• confirming knowledge, understanding and skills
• providing access to a relevant card scheme
• enabling learners to gain the relevant licence to practice

This VQ is suitable for:
– learners who have just left school
– individuals who are currently in employment and who wish to obtain a formal qualification

Entry is at the discretion of the centre.
Candidates should be in a job or placement where they are carrying out relevant tasks and responsibilities which allow then to gather the required evidence.

The level 5 award could provide progression to:
– employment in the Construction sector, such as a Plant Operator
